here is my fear and loathing painting i did for my beginning painting class at the SAC. it is my little tribute to my man ralph steadman. it is large and lovely and currently resides in my dining room.

so this is my entry for the Art 4 Health exhibition in the student health center. it is made of make-up (mostly eyeshadow and blush) on fabric, and fabric on fabric. i think it will be in the health center until some time next year, so you can go see it in person if you please....just don't touch it....cuz it'll smear. thank you.

~* TOP 8 MOST ANNOYING THINGS THAT PEOPLE SAY, AND SHOULD NEVER BE SAID AGAIN BY ANYONE EVER ~*

1. HOT/ COLD ENOUGH FOR YA?- No, no actually I’d prefer it to be slightly hotter/colder because I like to test the capacity of the human body to cope with extremely uncomfortable conditions. What makes people so insecure with themselves that they feel it necessary to be clever (and I use that word loosely here) instead of just observing, “Wow, it’s pretty hot/cold out here”?

2. WORKING HARD OR HARDLY WORKING?- Every time some yahoo has asked me this, it makes me want to shoot myself in the face with a musket. Who would think this is remotely funny besides corporate sad sacs whose sense of good humor has been gradually worn away by bad fluorescent lighting and forced water cooler banter? Note: If you have ever said this, you are probably the same person who wears socks with sandals and should immediately stop doing both as either of these acts makes you look like a gigantic boob.

3. 24/7/365- I understand why, but for abbreviation purposes, this sure does take longer to say than the time honored “everyday.” At some point, “everyday” became inadequate, forcing people to site specifically the increment of time they have spent doing something.

4. OUTDATED URBAN-TYPE SLANG, SPECIFICALLY SPOKEN BY WHITE PEOPLE- The worst examples of this include, “Bling,” “You go girl,” “Who da man?” and the unfortunately reoccurring, “Getting Jiggy with it.” No one has partaken in “Jiggyness” for at least five years. You’d think this would warrant a cease of its usage and, yet, nay. Anyone who says any of these terms in attempt to be socially accepted should be dropped off in Watts, California or the heart of Atlanta with these ridiculous utterances being their only form of communication.

5. ONLINE SPEAK- Laughing is replaced by the words, “LOL” being said out loud. Instead of an expression of surprise, you’re met with “OMG.” This contemptible trend is running rampant among college students who have apparently learned to speak via their well-spent, well-paid-for hours in the school library researching the literary aspects of Myspace. In the future, we will be forced to say, “I’m sorry, I couldn’t hear you. Could you speak in all CAPS?”

6. GOD MADE ADAM AND EVE, NOT ADAM AND STEVE- Yes, obviously. Whatever you believe, you have to admit this is a stupid adage. If you have to say this, you’re probably arguing with someone who is defending gay rights and, thus, doesn’t care about the validity of the Bible, rendering it a moot point. Plus, it makes you sound like you should be in the audience of a talk show hosted by some B-list celebrity.

7. COOL BEANS!- What does that even mean? I don’t care, I don’t want to in any way dignify it by owing any more attention to it. You should probably only say this if you are a mom in charge of some sort of children’s group activity or are nine years old.

8. BAD LANGUAGE- Let the bashing begin, but I detest bad language. Hearing the F word (sublist 8a: when people describe it as the “F-bomb”) automatically reminds me of high school and all the Sublime-loving, weed-smoking losers that resided therein throwing around expletives with the same abandonment of a freshmen girl discovering what she will later view as way too much make up. Having a foul mouth immediately takes you down a rung on the intelligence ladder. If you must, keep it in an environment where you are supported by equally commode-mouthed individuals, but don’t bring out in public where I have to hear it. I hated high school, don’t take me back.

so i think i might be one of the only people in america that hasn't been exposed to any form of harry potter-ness, so i'm not entirely sure what to do for this first assignment. i know there is some involvement with brooms and and owl and some dumbledorf-ery of some kind. if this were a lord of the rings assignment, i could bang out ideas like i was getting paid. i can dork it up right nice when necessary, i've got no shame.
