Lynn's husband dies suddenly, leaving her all alone. To make matters worse, her brother-in-law Sawyer's appearance at the funeral makes her quake. He was the man she loved before she met her husband. And while he's comforting her, things turn passionate in the blink of an eye. Soon afterward, now living on her own, Lynn realizes that she's pregnant. Is the father of the child her late husband…or Sawyer?

I love Emilie Rose but I got really irritated reading this book. First, let me say that there are actually 3 books in this "Passion" series but you don't have to purchase all of them because they stand alone. The books are about 3 best buds: Sawyer (Forbidden Passion), Carter (Scandalous Passion) and Rick (Breathless Passion). I liked Carter's story best. Now back to the review. Spoilers a'coming! This story was so irritating because the hero, Sawyer, went out of town for a few weeks (he did not leave the U.S.) and apparently he had to leave in a hurry and left a note with his younger brother Brett, (the villain in the story), to give to his girlfriend Lynn (the heroine). Needless to say, she did not get the letter and when Sawyer returned, he found his beloved girlfriend married to his baby brother. What was so dumb about the entire episode is that when Sawyer left town (and gave said letter to his brother to give to Lynn), he didn't contact Lynn AT ALL the ENTIRE time he was gone! I mean he did not call, email, send a letter...nothing! I mean there was NO contact at all with Lynn in all that time (approximately 8 weeks) he was gone. What boyfriend does that? They were both in the USA, not some third world jungle! It seemed like a stupid plot for miscommunication! And on top of that, Lynn, for some unknown intelligent reason, spent FOUR years in a marriage where her husband Brett psychologically and mentally abused her. And if you read the book, you can see Lynn willingly submitted herself to this verbal/mental abuse instead of walking away. She dreaded everything about her marriage. There is NO MENTION of no happy times at all in her marriage to Brett. And yet, she was trying to create a family with this man????!!! And she wasn't stupid (debatable) or weak but for some reason she let Brett, whom she fell out of love with not long after the marriage, stomp all over her and rule over her (in the story we read that Lynn would sneak around taking babysitting jobs and then take that money and pay for classes at the local college. Brett didn't want Lynn working or going to school. In the very beginning of her marriage to Brett when Lynn was enrolled in University, Lynn allowed Brett to sabotage her grades so she dropped out). All in all, it was a okay read, but it could have been so much better.

Forbidden Passion Harlequin comics eBook Emilie Rose Jun Makimura Reviews

Good romance, however I thought I was purchasing a "new" never read book instead I received a used book. Used books are fine but I wish it had been noted in the product description.
This was the first Silhouette Desire book I read and I fell in love. I couldn't find the book for years but once I did it was just as good as the first time. This is my all time favorite.
Ever since I read the book Condition of Marriage by Emilie Rose and went through the list of published books by the author I have wanted to get my hands on this book as the synopsis seemed to hint at an intriguing story. And of course the raving reviews this book has received on numerous bookseller websites didn't help. I have been scouting all over the Internet to find whether an e-version of the book had been released for quite sometime now. And to my delightful surprise last night I found that the book has been released on in April this year. (Woohoo!)

Lynn has been married to Sawyer's adopted brother Brett for the past four years. A time during which Lynn has learnt that love is not what it seems to be and that a person could really whittle away and breakdown from the constant emotional roller coaster her marriage to Brett was. Lynn and Sawyer end up having mind blowing sex mere hours after Brett's funeral, an act that puts Lynn in a bit of a predicament as she and Brett had tried to make their marriage work for one final time and started trying for a family just before Brett was killed.

Sawyer and Lynn has a shared history together, and Sawyer has no idea what kind of a monster Brett really was. Believing Brett to be the younger brother Sawyer had always worked his butt off to provide for and never understanding the reason why Lynn never waited for him and got married to Brett instead, Sawyer proposes marrying Lynn when he finds out that she is pregnant even though Lynn has no idea who the father could be.

Lynn never thought that a man could be understanding, loving, kind and attentive towards her needs and wants. Marriage to Sawyer opens up all the possibilities that were closed off to her before and it is not long before Lynn falls for Sawyer all over once again all the while thinking that all Sawyer wants is the temporary arrangement they agreed to before they got married.

Skillfully seductive, this book is a good read for a quick bout of romance with characters that you can relate to. Wish the story could have been longer!
